More than 120mm (47 inches) of rain soaked the city-state, with nearly 100mm (4 inches) falling in just 12 hours at the airport, according to weather observations.
The torrential downpours have led to widespread flooding, disrupting traffic on major highways and affecting operations at DXB. The airport has temporarily diverted some incoming flights to nearby airports to ensure the safety of passengers.
Dubai's roads were heavily impacted by the heavy downpours, with many areas experiencing severe flooding. The authorities have urged residents and visitors to exercise caution and avoid driving in flood-prone areas.
