TEL AVIV, Israel — It was a moment of elation amid tragedy in December as baby Tala Rouqa was pulled from the rubble unconscious but alive. Days old and desperately thin, Baby Malak didn't even have a name when she was taken to the hospital.
But on Tuesday, the baby rescued from her dying mother's womb after an Israeli air strike in southern Gaza died, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The strike hit the family home in the Al-Shaboura refugee camp in the southern Gazan city of Rafah, late Tuesday, killing the two young children and injuring several others, the ministry said.
The Israeli military said it was investigating the incident but did not immediately comment on the deaths of the children.
The airstrike was part of a barrage of intense Israeli airstrikes on the southern Gaza city of Rafah this weekend.
